Why WordPress
WordPress is by far the easiest platform to design on. There are other great content management systems out there, but WordPress is designed so anyone can get a website up and running in minutes. With so much support in terms of themes and plugins you can do virtually anything you want! Let’s say for example that you want to display different ads depending on what page or post a visitor is on. Guess what, there’s a plugin for that. There’s actually a few plugins for that. Now let’s say you want to set up some sort of review website and want pictures on your home page for people to click on. Yeah you can find a theme that will do that as well. With WordPress the sky is the limit.
Joomla is another popular CMS but it is designed more for web designers than for the average Joe. Joomla is the WordPress for techies. Yes, I currently manage a Joomla site and have run a few Joomla sites. The problem with Joomla? The free templates aren’t very good. You have to pay money to make Joomla operate the way you want. Almost every function you would ever want is available for free on WordPress. Huge businesses have begun making the transition to WordPress. Believe it or not some of the most popular websites online are using CMS. UFC.com and TNAwrestling.com are both Joomla sites, and many of the most exclusive drug rehab companies have moved over to WordPress. Once your eye becomes accustomed to the way CMS operates you’ll see who is using CMS and why.
